Terms of Service
Last updated: September 23, 2026
SubMail (“the Service”) is a free, disposable email service that generates temporary mailboxes which automatically delete themselves. By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The service
SubMail provides temporary, self-deleting email addresses. Mailboxes and all their contents — messages and attachments — are deleted automatically after a short lifetime and may also be deleted at any time, without notice. Do not use SubMail for anything you need to keep. We are not able to recover deleted mail, and we do not provide backups.
2. No private or sensitive use
Mailboxes are not private accounts. Anyone who has both the mailbox identifier and its access token can read the mailbox; treat anything you receive as publicly viewable. Never use SubMail to receive password resets, financial documents, medical information, legal notices, or any other sensitive material. You alone are responsible for what you choose to receive.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- violate any applicable law or regulation, including sanctions and export controls;
- send unsolicited bulk email (“spam”) — note the Service is receive-only and cannot send email;
- harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate any person or entity;
- distribute, receive, or link to malware, phishing, or fraudulent content;
- infringe intellectual property or privacy rights;
- circumvent bans, rate limits, or terms of service of other platforms where doing so is prohibited;
- abuse, overload, or attempt to disrupt the Service’s infrastructure, including automated scraping or denial-of-service activity.
We may rate-limit, block, or remove access for any use we reasonably believe violates these terms or harms the Service or its users.
4. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that email will be delivered. Deliverability depends on third-party senders and mail infrastructure outside our control.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service’s operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or business opportunities, arising from or relating to your use of the Service — including deleted or unreceived mail — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
6. Privacy
The Service stores only what it needs to operate: a mailbox identifier, a hashed access token, and received messages until deletion. We do not require accounts and do not sell personal data. Standard, privacy-respecting web server logs may be kept briefly for security and abuse prevention. Because mailboxes self-delete, most stored data is removed automatically.
7. Third-party services
The Service runs on third-party infrastructure (Cloudflare, Backblaze B2) and links to external sites (such as its source repository or donation pages). Those parties have their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control.
8. Open source
The Service’s source code is available under an open-source license for self-hosting. These terms apply to your use of the hosted Service; the code license governs any self-hosted copy separately.
9. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted to this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the revised terms.
10. Contact
Questions, abuse reports, or legal notices can be sent via the project repository.
